ABOUT NSO

Strengthening the statistical capabilities of field offices through information and communication technology has been one of the National Statistics Office's successful thrusts through the years. Per Executive Order No. 36, Region 12 is composed Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sarangani and Sultan Kudarat provinces.

Through the years, NSO Region 12 continues to initiate programs that go beyond its government mandate to provide statistical services and civil registration to the public.

:: NSO to conduct 18th Philippine Statistics Quiz ::

The National Statistics Office (NSO) and the Philippine Statistical Association (PSA) will be conducting the 2009 Philippine Statistical Quiz (PSQ) nationwide, the 18th in the series. National finals for 2009 PSQ will be held in Manila on December 4, while Regional Championships will be simultaneously done on November 12. Click here for the full report.


:: 2009 FIES 1st Visit Machine Processing Wrapped-up ::

Pool of encoders was hired by the regional office to take charge of the encoding of data for the 1st Visit of the 2009 Family Income and Expenditures Survey (FIES).  Machine processing began on August 27 and winded up on September 29.  Encoders were Aileen Batlag, Gaudencio Castillon, Rodel Cruz, Jr., Rogelio Dafielmoto, Jr., Manjoursa Lauban, Sahira Dimaronsing, Annabel Tambara, and Ricky Laureano. Taking main charge of the task was Statistical Coordination Officer I Leonardo  L. Sales who served as the region’s Data Processing Center Supervisor. Click here for the full report.

:: GLOBAL ADULT TOBACCO SURVEY in Region 12 Kicks-off ::

After the successful 6-day Second Level Training on the specifics of the Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) on August 31 to September 5, 2009 at Sardonyx Plaza and Restaurant, Cotabato City, Region 12’s team of field interviewers embarked on its task of collecting data on tobacco use for a number of sample households in the region with the use of IPAQ hand-held computers. :: Celebrating NSO’s 69TH Anniversary ::

“Happy Together!” This was the theme and feel of the Regional Office XII’s kick-off activities held last July 30, 2009.  RD Manulon headed the short program and underlined the call for a more quality service as government servants working with the NSO.  He elaborated further the gist of this year’s theme, “Dekalidad na serbisyo, hatid ng NSO sa ika-animnapu’t-siyam na anibersaryo!” Click here for the full report.


:: NSO to conduct 5-Month Training for Statisticians and Programmers ::

Statisticians and Programmers are called on to join the National Statistics Office (NSO) five-month training at NSO, Sta. Mesa, Manila that will likely begin on September 2009.  Thirty qualified applicants will be selected to go through the said training. During the length of the training, qualified applicants will be regarded as an NSO Service Contractor. Employees of NSO who hold the Statistician 1 and below positions and meet the qualifications may also apply. Click here for the full report.


:: Poverty Situation in SOCCSKSARGEN in 2007 ::

Based on the results of the 2007 Annual Poverty Indicators    Survey, 45.3 percent of families in the bottom 30% income     stratum in Region XII do not have electricity in their homes compared to 14.2 percent among families in the upper 70% income stratum. The bottom 30% of all families in this report represents the poor families. Click here for the full report.


:: Region 12 Unemployment Rate Down to 3.8 Percent in October 2008 ::

For October 2008, SOCCSKSARGEN Region recorded an employment rate of 96.2 percent for October 2008 based from the results of the October 2008 Labor Force Survey (LFS). This resulted for a decrease in the unemployment rate which posted for only 3.8 percent in October 2008 compared to 4.8 percent in October 2007. This signifies that, there are about 4 persons unemployed for every 100 persons who are in the labor force in the region. Click here for the full report.


:: Number of OFWs from Region 12 Soar Up ::

Around 90,090 (4.5 percent) Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from SOCCSKSARGEN Region worked abroad at anytime during the period April to September 2008 as reported by their families during the National Statistics Office’s 2008 Survey on Overseas Filipinos (SOF).  The 2008 estimate represents an increase of 22.78 percent over the 73,374 (4.2 percent) OFWs estimated for the period April to September 2007. The NSO is mandated by law to keep and preserve the birth, marriage and death certificates of a Filipino citizen. These certificates are the bases for establishing the legal status of each and every Filipino.

Being the central depository of all civil registry documents, NSO utilizes automated systems for efficient data retrieval. Serbilis Centers nationwide have been opened for the convenience of the public applying for copies of civil registry documents for local and foreign use.
