ABOUT NSO

Strengthening the statistical capabilities of field offices through information and communication technology has been one of the National Statistics Office's successful thrusts through the years. Per Executive Order No. 36, Region 12 is composed Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sarangani and Sultan Kudarat provinces.

Through the years, NSO Region 12 continues to initiate programs that go beyond its government mandate to provide statistical services and civil registration to the public.

NEWS AROUND THE REGION

:: NSO Names New Director of SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Office ::
he National Statistics Office announced March 6 the Designation Order No. 2008-077, naming Atty. Maqtahar L. Manulon as the new Director for Region XII (SOCCSKSARGEN) effective April 1, 2008.  The new chief takes over the duties and responsibilities of former Director Jaime S. Paller, who is now taking the chair of NSO Region XI.

The turn-over ceremony was held last April 3, 2008 in Bai Labi Hall of El Manuel Hotel and Restaurant, Cotabato City. It was witnessed by NSO top management led by Administrator Carmelita N. Ericta, her Executive Assistant Joseph P. Cajita, the three (3) Provincial Statistics Officers of the region.

:: NSO Certifications to add up P15 Documentary Stamp Tax ::
Beginning May 1, 2008, the National Statistics Office Regional Office XII shall collect P 15.00 Documentary Stamp Tax (DST) on all requests for issuance of certified and/or authenticated copy of birth/marriage/death certificates including indorsed documents and Certificate of No Marriage Record (CENOMAR) made thru our Batch Request System (BREQS). All applications made thru any of the Census Serbilis Centers nationwide are also required to pay the DST. This is pursuant to the Revenue and Tax Code and Sections 173 and 188 of the Revenue Memorandum Order No. 13-2008 dated March 13, 2008 issued by the Department of Finance, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Quezon City.

Payment for the DST shall be done upon filing of application form. Total amount to be collected per copy shall be as follows:

The certified/authenticated copy of birth/marriage/death certificates and CENOMAR requested along with the Official Receipt will be duly marked with “DOCUMENTARY STAMP TAX PAID.” For the mean time, manual stamping shall be done until such time that modifications in the Civil Registry System are through.



: FIES '06: SOCCSKSARGEN HIGHLIGHTS ::
The total annual family income of SOCCSKSARGEN in 2006 was estimated at P 85.3 billion indicating an increase of 6 percent over the 2003 estimate of P 80.1 billion. The total family expenditure was approximately P 71.7 billion, an increase of 19 percent over the 2003 estimate of P 60.2 billion.

Adjusting for the inflation between 2003 and 2006, total family income in 2006 (P85 billion) would be valued at P70 billion at 2003 prices. Likewise, the total family expenditure in 2006 (P72 billion) would be valued at P59.1 billion at 2003 prices.
