NSO - to conduct ASPBI and SICT
On April 2009, the National Statistics Office will be conducting the 2008 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industries (ASPBI) and the 2008 Survey on Information and Communication Technology (SICT) nationwide.
The APSBI aims to collect and to compile information on economic activities of establishments in the entire Philippines for the year 2008. Accurate and up-to-date business and economic information enable planners, both from the government and the private sector, to analyze industry structures and to evaluate business performance; to make effective plans and sound business decisions; and, to formulate meaningful policies.
Along with this activity is also the conduct of the 2008 Survey on Information and Communication Technology (SICT). This is designed to collect detailed information on the availability, distribution and utilization of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in businesses and industries in the country.
The NSO-XII is again calling the public, particularly the business and industry sectors in SOCCKSARGEN Region, to provide full support to enable planners and investors to have a real picture of the events in the Philippine industry and economy.
This activity is in line with the Commonwealth Act 591, approved on August 19, 1940, authorizing the Bureau of the Census and Statistics (now the National Statistics Office) to prepare for and undertake all censuses of population, agriculture, industry and commerce, among others.
The data obtained from these surveys shall be held strictly confidential and shall not be used as evidence in any court or any public office either as evidence for or against the individual or business enterprise from whom such data emanated.
The 2008 ASPBI and SICT will also depict the economic conditions of the country and the region, in particular, with respect to the present economic crisis experienced even in the first world countries; and if these crises are very evident in the Philippines for the year 2008.
