NSO to conduct 18th Philippine Statistics Quiz
The National Statistics Office (NSO) and the Philippine Statistical Association (PSA) will be conducting the 2009 Philippine Statistical Quiz (PSQ) nationwide, the 18th in the series. National finals for 2009 PSQ will be held in Manila on December 4, while Regional Championships will be simultaneously done on November 12.
For all regions, identification of statistical wizards will be instigated in October through conduct of provincial eliminations. Winners will represent their respective provinces in the regional finals. For SOCCSKSARGEN, regional finals for this year’s PSQ will be sponsored by the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) of South Cotabato. Initial identified venue is Koronadal City. Cash, trophies and medals await the winners.
The PSQ is a yearly contest aimed at examining freshmen college students' knowledge of statistics as acquired from the secondary education curriculum. It aims to promote, enhance, and instill appreciation on the value of the statistics among Filipino youth. It also seeks to generate greater public awareness on the importance of statistics in development planning and gain better cooperation in government statistical activities. |
