Being a large-scale government operation geared
towards the collection and compilation of statistics
on the agriculture and fisheries sectors of the
country, the collected Censuses of Agriculture
and Fisheries (CAF) data will constitute the bases
from which policy-makers and planners will formulate
plans for the country's development. It was undertaken
by NSO in compliance with Executive Order (EO)
121, which designated the agency as the "major
statistical agency responsible for generating
general purpose statistics" and "to
prepare for and undertake all census of population,
agriculture, industry and commerce." Click

Fertility in the Philippines has declined steadily
over the past three decades, especially in the
first twenty years during which a decline of one
birth every decade was observed (from 6 births
per woman in 1970 to 4.1 for the last round).
The new reconfigured SOCCSKSARGEN Region, which
is composed of South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan
Kudarat, Sarangani and General Santos, is among
the regions in the Philippines whose women have
fertility higher than the national level. Click

As the
primary statistical arm of the government, NSO
is duty-bound to produce and provide quality and
general-purpose statistics for information and
dissemination. Aimed to gather and provide information
on contraceptive use in the country as well as
its Maternal and Child Health status, the 2004
Family Planning Survey (FPS) is the eighth in
a series of family planning surveys conducted
nationwide by the NSO since 1995. The response
rate across the country was generally high. SOCCSKSARGEN
Region, with its recorded response rate of 93.2%,
was among the top regions.
Funding assistance was provided by the United
States Agency for International Development (USAID)
and technical assistance, by the International
Programs Center of the U.S. Census Bureau. Click
